About Whiz

Whiz is a thoughtful, honest, and exceptionally steady young mare with a quiet confidence that is uncommon for her age. She approaches new places, new questions, and new experiences with curiosity rather than worry, making her a pleasure to develop and an enjoyable partner to ride.

Although she's still only three years old and will continue to benefit from experience and miles, she has consistently shown the kind of temperament that gives her an exciting future. In fact, after enjoying a short break following the Alberta Ranch Versatility Show, we recently hauled her back to the Foremost indoor arena. She stepped off the trailer and went right back to work as though no time had passed—exactly the same thoughtful, willing, uncomplicated little mare we turned out after the show.

The more places we take Whiz, the less she surprises us.

She just kept being Whiz.

Training & Ride

• Quiet, uncomplicated, and willing under saddle.

• Soft and responsive in the bosal with a light, willing feel.

• Walk, trot, and lope with natural balance and correct movement.

• Confidently performs lateral work including leg yields, side passes, turns on the forehand, and turns on the haunches.

• Comfortable working gates, dragging logs and sleds, backing through obstacles, and ground tying.

• Ridden in the arena, outside the arena, and on trail rides.

• Comfortable being ridden by multiple riders.

• Ridden bareback in a halter.

• Continues to build a solid foundation for a variety of future disciplines.

Exposure & Experience

• Competed at her first Alberta Ranch Versatility Show in Ranch Trail, Ranch Riding, and Ranch Reining.

• Hauled and worked confidently at multiple indoor and outdoor arenas.

• Crosses bridges, water, gravel, hills, and varied terrain.

• Ground driven.

• Feet roped and taught to lead by a foot as preparation for future hobble training.

• Comfortable around cattle, dogs, children, and everyday farm equipment.

• Loads, hauls, and ties quietly.

• Lives comfortably with mares and geldings and has naturally settled into the lead mare role within our young horse herd without drama or conflict.

• Consistently approaches new environments with the same honest, uncomplicated attitude.

Health & Management

• AQHA Registered as CR Dual Whizkey.

• 3-year-old mare standing approximately 13.2 HH.

• Good for the farrier.

• Teeth floated May 2026.

• Spring 2026 vaccinations and deworming completed.

• Easy to catch, handle, groom, saddle, and haul.

Ideal Home

Whiz is best suited for a rider who appreciates a young horse with an exceptional mind and wants to continue building on the solid foundation she has already received. While she has the temperament to quietly carry inexperienced riders in appropriate situations, she is still early in her education and deserves a partner who will continue to develop her confidence through thoughtful, consistent riding.

With time, experience, and miles, we believe Whiz has all the ingredients to become the kind of horse that stays in a family for generations.
